About

My name is Roselle and I am a mum to two lovely daughters, RD and CN. We’re currently based in Sydney but were originally from Manila, hence the idea to name the site manillapaper.com. But that’s not the full story…

Well, it all started when I decided to start a blog to share stories and experiences about parenting. I had to find a good, catchy name but was limited to what’s available in my blog’s original host, wordpress.com. And so after trying a number of names, we were short of giving up. Suddenly while brainstorming in my thinking chair, my kids gathered around my working table to grab some paper for their craft. This made my eyes focus on that ream of paper sitting on the table. Brand: ‘Reflex’. And so the blog was born… Reflexes! While I’m not sure why that paper brand is named as such, I thought that name well describes what it takes to become a parent: parenting or parental reflexes. There may be no such medical or scientific terminology, but I believe such exists. It is hard to explain but I’m sure parents out there will agree that they got these brand new reflexes when they became mums or dads.

After some time, I decided to get my own domain name for further flexibility. Having in mind to build a website that contains news, stories and other articles for families, parents and parents to-be or wannabees, I started juggling words that may be used as domain name: news, magazine, bulletin, letter, paper (remember Reflex paper?), etc. And then I thought of this type of paper that is native to my ‘home’… manilla paper (named as such because it is made from manila hemp). My husband (a.k.a. site admin) quickly checked the domain and found that it is available. So we booked the domain and are now all set to go! It sure was a great idea to have my articles ‘printed’ on ‘paper’ close to home.

And so that ends the story… or should I say, beginnings of manillapaper.com, home to Reflexes.
