Fun with Robotic Speech

By reflexes June 2, 2010

A couple of weeks back, the entire family decided to play around with some speech functionalities in our computer just before we all went to sleep. The computer can take on commands by interpreting spoken language. It was quite challenging to speak ‘clearly’ enough for the computer to recognize exactly what we’re saying. I think the text-to-speech was a better function though it was really some unnatural robotic speech similar to that in some auto insurance quotes advertisement on television. The kids enjoyed the time because after all, they’re the ‘techy’ types. For me, what was more memorable was the great time sharing laughs as a family.
