So What Do You Do?

Some things are just not that easy to explain to kids. One of the things is probably the parent’s occupation. Well, some are probably rather easy such as explaining what a doctor or fireman does. But an IT consultant? It would definitely need more words to explain to children. A simple way to explain it is relating it with computer software or websites which they are already using. Of course we know that it takes a lot more than that. IT Consulting boundaries are really difficult to define. It covers a wide range of functions such that a specialist on one area is quite likely not to be a guru in another. It does appear to be a good occupation and wouldn’t want my kids to miss on it if it is something they would want to do.

The Nest

The young birds in our yard has eventually left their nest. Though it is quite interesting to note that I can still see them hopping around our place. The parents, too, are still around as they still give their young ones some food. It won’t be long until these young birds are going to fly on their own. Well, for us humans, we have the pleasure of enjoying our kids for a lot longer.

Turning Back

Staying healthy is one of the goals every parent should have. Some say, ‘we owe it to our kids’. If we think about it, there may be some truth in that statement. Anyway, keeping at the right weight is probably one thing that slowly slips away from attention. By the time we look at the mirror, it seems to be too late. Perhaps that’s why several companies have come up with a whole list of solutions such as Apidexin in order to turn the tide back.

Still Connected

We are planning a week out to Gold Coast sometime in the next month. While I am sure that everyone will be having a great time outdoors, I was reminded that it is potentially a time when I would miss the internet (and blogging, of course!). It is good that with today’s technology such as
satellite broadband australia, there are options to stay connected.

With the ability to stay online even if you are on some remote site is really a good thing. I am not only talking about having to go out temporarily but also for families living in more rural areas. I have personally realized the importance of the internet for my children’s schooling. And I believe that its availability through satellite internet australia will benefit more families. The availability of this technology can even be better realized as satellite broadband providers provide good packages suit different needs.

Elegance

I have mentioned in my previous posts how most, if not all, families dream of having their own house at some point. Of course each one would have a different ‘taste’ or preference with regards to home design. Some would opt for simple ones while others would go for some further styling. While looking around at home designs, I get to realize that there are some ‘add-ons’ such as wall sconce that can add that extra elegance and yet remain a functional home feature.

C Count

We have started to introduce the concept of ‘calories’ to our eldest daughter. Understanding calories is an important ingredient in maintaining a healthy weight. If you have tried counting calories on food and compare it with the amount of exercise you need to do in order to burn it, the maths are likely to be hard to understand. That is probably why a lot of people are caught off guard and just put on weight in a flash. Others are blessed with a metabolism rate that affords them to eat huge amount of calories without leading to a bulge. On the other hand, others would need some alli support to get the calories drop.

Keep Focused

There’s this interesting television clip which was released in Australia just a few days/weeks ago. It features a man who walks along a path resembling time. At an early age, he ignores the fact that he has started to put on some weight. Little did he realize that he would eventually lose focus and turn out to bear an unhealthy weight. Well, the truth is, there are solutions out there. Others go for the quick diet pills while some go for a mix of exercise and good diet.

You Better Watch Out…

You better not cry, you better not pout. I’m telling you why… Christmas is just around the corner! With just roughly a month to go, a lot of people may have already started their shopping for gifts. Gift giving need not be expensive especially in today’s times. If we look around at the right shops, we can still afford to give quality gifts such as Movado watches at great prices.

Found Roti in Sydney

I have checked on some Asian Stores here (mostly those operated by Chinese nationals) about this delicious product from Malaysia called Rotti Paratha (also spelled Roti Pratha, Rotti Pratha, Roti Prata). Finally, I found one when a friend showed me where to buy it. We were in Singapore then when we first tasted this yummy bread. It tasted good that it became a regular snack. I have not tried making one from scratch so I just opt for the frozen ready-to-cook ones which are also great since they’re so easy to prepare. The dough is made of wheat flour, vegetable oil, margarine, water and salt. It is flat, circular in shape, packed individually and frozen. Just place them on a pre-heated flat non-stick pan (no oil needed) and cook/toast both sides. I can’t wait to serve this to my family. My kids will surely love them.

Busy Body

I have really become busy these past few weeks. There are just a lot of things going on one after the other. Perhaps it started a couple of months back when we moved to our new rental house. While things are quite ‘stable’ by now, the times that the ‘moving’ took up probably bumped some activities and the domino effect continues. Or probably it is just that end of year rush. Whatever it real reason is, I just look forward to having things settle down.

Because of this busy schedule, I realized that I have skipped on a number of things. Exercise is probably one of these things. Though I have to say that all the moving and sorting requires a bit of a body workout. And if I think about that, then I might not have missed much as far as getting muscles to be active. It would have been tempting to manage or lose weight through some fat burners or other things such as fenphedra as they propose to give ‘quick wins’. At the end of it, I believe what’s important is to make effort to keep the body weight within the healthy levels. And these should all happen within our busy schedules. In that way, we can keep on going busy, on a positive sense.

Morning Hiccups

My daughter CN woke up this morning and while preparing for school, had some small “hiccups”. And its not that kind which produce that quick funny sound. It was really nothing major. She just became picky with what clothes she would wear to school. I may be stating the obvious, but she simply preferred the Dora shirt over another (non-Dora). Well, it somehow made me think that school uniform is a great idea as it would circumvent such morning hiccups.

A Survey Software Idea

It’s now almost the end of school year. It’s that time when parents or carers get a feedback from the teachers how a student has peformed during the year. I just thought that it may be a good idea for schools to get feedback from the parents/students (or even amongst teachers, too) in order to improve the whole education process. Perhaps a Survey Software will help in the process.

LP: Then and Now

This week’s photo theme at LP is all about things we have all grown up with. It is not unusual for parents to make some comparisons about what they have grown up with and what their children have experienced. The phrase “When I was a kid… things were different” is likely to be familiar to many. I am sure I have heard it from my parents. And now that I am already a parent, I have also made some comparisons between my experiences and my kids’. While there are differences here and there, the best parts to look at are those with commonalities.

When I took this photo of these young birds who are still on the nest, I just thought that there is probably hardly any difference with what they (parents and kids) have grown up with. Or I may be wrong (e.g. different style of nest?)

Way Out

We noticed lately how my youngest child has outgrown some of her clothes rather quickly. I am not alarmed though since I know that she is quite active and would then quickly lose unwanted weight. Its just a normal path of a kid growing up. If it were us adults who are outgrowing clothes, then that is a time to raise the red flag. Well, there is a natural supplement, Orovo, which may be a way out.

Party Girls

Last weekend, our daughter CN attended her classmate’s birthday party.  It was originally meant to be her first time being alone in a party. And so we sent her off.  Yes, I mean ‘we’ as in the whole family (and that of course included my visiting mother).  I believe she, too, was quite excited on this new adventure. In fact, shortly after we received the invitation for this one, a couple of other invitations followed shortly.

Anyway, there were some twists to the plan as eventually, my eldest daughter RD went with CN. It just happened that the birthday celebrant’s brother is also RD’s classmate.  Whew! Small world it is.  But despite the presence of a ‘chaperone’, CN still had a great time. I guess that can be partly attributed to the fact that RD was also busy with her stuff.

  • Welcome to Reflexes!

Reflexes are an unlearned or instinctive response to stimulus. Undeniably, some people discover new ‘reflexes’ when they become a parent. To dads and mums out there, you know what this means…

This weblog is dedicated to these people who have, or are still, discovering these REFLEXES…
