Backyard Buchoy Bonding

It is summer vacation. My kids’ grandma and grandpa from the Philippines came to visit us for the first time. We brought them to tourist spots in Sydney during weekends. But during weekdays they usually stayed home and helped us with chores such as cleaning, especially the front and backyard.

While working at the backyard, grandpa thought of planting vegetables outside. RD got so excited with the idea. We already tried planting before but without any success, probably because we tried planting in the wrong season. Anyways, RD told her grandpa that she still has ‘Petchay’ (Buchoy) seeds to sow, so project planting started. Her grandfather helped her prepare the dirt for planting. Everyday, they worked together. They cleaned the patch from rocks and weeds, cultivate the soil, sow the seeds, water it, and finally planting the seedlings to its final spot to grow. She knows she should water them twice daily but she doesn’t mind as she’s so excited to see the final outcome…to see the vegetables grow and be ready for harvesting.

Weeks passed and grandpa and grandma had to head back home. Grandpa didn’t see the Buchoy grow, but RD definitely enjoyed her backyard buchoy bonding time with grandpa.

Forever

Just want to share this song which my ex-boyfriend (now my hubby) wrote sometime back.

From the moment we have shared our love
I meant to give you all I can and all I have
But even though how hard I try
Sometimes I fail and make you cry
And it’s hurting me inside
Please believe me in what I’ve to say
My love for you is always here to stay

It may take forever for me to be perfect in my acts
It may take forever for me to see and fill the things I lack
But it will be never that I will cease to try
To love you even more as times pass by
My love for you will always be true
And it’s forever that I’ll fall in love with you

As we walk together in each day
We’re bound to face some trials lying on our way
Through these days you’ll find me strong
And yet still struggle and fall wrong
But I’ll keep going on
Please believe me in what I’ve to say
My love for you is always here to stay

It may take forever for me to be perfect in my acts
It may take forever for me to see and fill the things I lack
But it will be never that I will cease to try
To love you even more as times pass by
My love for you will always be true
And it’s forever that I’ll fall in love with you

Forever I will fall in love with you!

Capturing Genesis1: Moon

This is the third of the series Capturing Genesis1.

Have you ever wondered why God made the moon? While it is probably easy to simplify that the answer is ‘to provide night light’, something inside me tells that there’s probably more to that. I tried doing a search in the web and found some interesting facts which in most cases made my jaw drop:

  • The moon stabilizes the earth in its rotation on its axis… we’ll be wobbling instead of rotating smoothly. This disrupts climate.
  • Without the moon, the earth will be spinning faster, this would obviously change what we know about ‘time’
  • If the moon never existed, the orbit of the earth would be closer to the sun. Talk about extinction.
  • There’s a whole lot more reasons that people/scientists will probably say. Next time we see the moon, I believe it’s a good idea to say: ‘Thank You, Lord!’

Picture taken last August 28, 2007 at the back porch of our house in Sydney, Australia.

Lunar Eclipse happens when the entire moon passes through the shadow of the earth. The whole eclipse lasted for about 1 hour and a half.

It was really beautiful watching the moon. The kids enjoyed it as well.

    • Welcome to Reflexes!

Reflexes are an unlearned or instinctive response to stimulus. Undeniably, some people discover new ‘reflexes’ when they become a parent. To dads and mums out there, you know what this means…

This weblog is dedicated to these people who have, or are still, discovering these REFLEXES…
